October and November are the best times to go to the flea market because sellers are gearing up for the holidays. Here’s some of the things I found today.
The note on this gas pump says The first gas pump that ever was. Yes, sir. Yes. Sir.
This purse is a frog. I stood with my mom for about three minutes saying, “This purse is a frog. It’s a frog. It’s made out of a frog. A FROG.”
Because, it is.
I purchased these boots for $35. There are some things I really like in life. You know: hats, babies, carnivorous plants. Cowboy boots are one of them.
This is my crowning jewel from Canton. It needs to be cleaned and have the lining replaced, but the deal was so unbelievable that I didn’t even negotiate (not that I’m any good at that).
Here’s the thing – 10 years ago, I bought this beautiful 50s vintage gold silk dress from an individual seller in Dallas. When I went with my mother to pick it up, the woman showed me this incredible cheetah CHEETAH coat for $125. And for some stupid reason in which I was stupid and incredibly stupid, I didn’t buy it. CHEETAH, did you hear me? It was beautiful and perfect. And Cheetah. From Africa.
Obviously I have no problem wearing fur.
And my mother has this lovely full length sheared beaver coat that she replaced a couple of years ago with a sheered mink. We looked into having it cut down to my size, and they wanted $1,400. Which was unnecessarily exorbitant.
So this coat, at Canton, which is the same coat I’d looked into having cut down. What did I pay for this?
$10.
In other news, I picked up this green velvet hat at the Montgomery Antique Store. Along with some baby blue gloves.
Hi, my name is Meagan and I’m 80.
Also, Friday was Denim Day for breast cancer research. Did you know?
