For those of you ladies attending Women of Worthiness, this set will be for auction. I made it in 2006, but never had a place for it. It seems like it was made to be donated to this event. It’s titled “Love, Honor, and Obey”.

I’d like a few prayers on my behalf as I make some decisions in the next couple of months before my lease is up in this strange land I’ve moved to. My life hasn’t gone the path I’d always seen it going, and so instead of waiting for it and subsequently being in a city and situation that make it worse and me miserable, I’m going to move right along with my secondary dream. The decision is whether or not I’m going to make a brave leap to move to the country and quilt/paint full time for festivals in the area.

When I think about painting and quilting… and baking… it makes me very happy, but teary because right now there’s a big obstacle that keeps me from doing it.

Every time I switch jobs or living spaces, I say, “I’ll have more time to quilt now,” or, “more space to lay fabric out now,” or, “It won’t be as time consuming and I’ll have lots of free time to paint.”

That never happens. I’m lucky to paint once a month, after a severe dusting of the canvas.

It makes more sense to me to live in the country during the week when I don’t have time to visit with others, and visit the city on the weekends when I do, instead of being in the city during the week where I am a slave and going out into the middle of nowhere on the weekends where the people I meet are pregnant goats.

I don’t need a lot of money, I just need some peace.

To this end, I made some progress with Mochi this evening, put him down for a nap, and cut all of the pieces for a new quilt. I cut all of the pieces. ALL OF THE PIECES. It only took an hour. See? I know this is something I’m good at and can do quickly and efficiently. I just need the time. If I’m able to make the same headway with Mo over the next few weeks, I should get several quilt tops pieced.

People are having babies like crazy this Spring. I’m just saying.

ps. My grandpa is amazing and love me, and he found me a vacuum cleaner. :)

Mochi got a well-deserved first bath today. But, because I am a shopping genius, his bath was conditioner-only. I didn’t even know dogs got their own conditioner! What dog needs conditioner? At any rate… at least there’s no longer food stuck to his face.

Or his bottom.

He did remarkably more well with the sink, the hairdryer, and the brushing than I had expected. In fact, there was no whining, carrying on, or whimpering that Pearlie still does to this day, even though she is 6.

At 10 weeks, Mochiko has also grasped the concept of wee pads so well that after the bath, he was headed towards the pad, and when I called him with a toy, he whipped around to me, and when I realized what was his previous goal, I said, “Do you need to go potty?” and he did a squirmy, puppy, fall-over-on-my-face double take and got on the pad instead.

My dog is a genius.

A pottying genius.

And I am so obnoxious, I may as well be telling you about changing a diaper.

At any rate, we’ve had a lot of company this week, including Hugh and Connie, and Mochi is so well behaved with company!

Except for the shrill barking when I’m in the kitchen. How did he figure out there is FOOD in the KITCHEN?!

On a sad note, Mochi has figured out that I will leave shortly after we get up in the morning and so he wants me to hold him while I get ready. He’s also caught onto my phone alarm that tells me when to leave after I drop by for lunch, and therefore hates my phone. And because I keep him in the bathroom while I’m at work, once I get home, he trots back and forth from the bathroom with one piece of food so that I don’t leave and/or shut him in there again.

I don’t know how MOMS who WORK do it. I did not birth this dog and I still feel guilt for leaving him during the day.

We signed up for puppy class, because I am determined to not have another Sady – the Rat Terrier I got when I was 10 and put down 6 years ago. They called her Satan and she bit a cancer patient.

In other, more important news: I went to the Irving singing last night. Ever been, like, the only person singing on a song that you thought everybody knew? After the song, someone said to me, “Good to have you sitting by me. You know, for the songs I don’t know,” and I thought, “Oh, that’s why it was so quiet in here.” Maybe it was a song we sang at West Allen all the time… I don’t even remember the name of it, that’s how much I thought everyone in the world should know it.

It was like Jesus Loves me or something.

And I was loud. Louder than apparently I realized. Loud enough to be self conscious about how loud I was without knowing it.

Loud like my name is Jenny Clark and I’m in an FC Musical with my brother, who forgot his lines.

I saw a gecko in my apartment this week. I was thrilled. I had considered buying some and setting them loose in my place. But, then I realized I have no bugs for them to eat. Apparently, they’re already here eating my bugs. That is awesome news.

Looking for song suggestions for the 2010 “Campbell Road” banquet.

When I was at Petsmart today, these kids were fawning over Mo when their dad walked by and said, “What is that, a Pomeranian?” and I said, “Yes,” and he said, “See, they’re cute AT FIRST.”

And I was all, like, OH YEAH?? YOUR BABY IS UGLY.

What is wrong with some people? I guess God is teaching me some more lessons in Mochi. Like, how not to tell pregnant women they look fat.

I saw something online the other day about jokes and the number one random punch lines that people say, or something like that, and one of them was, “That’s what she said.” I don’t know where this came from, what this means, or why it’s funny. And it made me think, some people think this pointless phrase is just as hilarious as when Jenni says something to me and I say, “Your mom,” and laugh so hard that I’m crying. And tears are coming out of my eyes, and I have to blow my nose, and mascara is streaking down my face.

And people tell me I am so lame for laughing at my own jokes.

That’s what she said. Why is this even funny?

Also, my Mac broke. I know I’ve had it for 4 or 5 years, but it was hardly used at all, ever (and I’d just started to use it daily since I moved here and it became my tv/dvd/radio). For some reason, this makes me feel like Apple really ripped me off. Especially since the warranty expired in the middle of November. To wrap things up two weeks ago, I listened to a really cruddy sermon on Ecclesiastes and later that day, a really uneducated sermon on Ecclesiastes. It’s a good thing I like that book.

Initially, he was called Clementine, as I found him in a very small pink shell and thought he was a girl. Then I learned the difference. I later purchased a Clementine because I also discovered they’re social creatures.

Possible reasons he is gone are

he sprouted wings or really owned up to his magical name and climbed up the seams of two pieces of glass, then lifted the lid and fell out of his tank
Clementine ate him
carpet guys stole him
someone who viewed my house over the weekend stole him

I have

looked everywhere
put out enticing water
called my realtors

If Otto Aberforth Filius Castro were a dog, heads would be rolling. Since he’s not, inquiries about where he may have gone are generally met with disbelieving laughter.

“You think… someone… stole your… crab?”

Yes, I do.

Quoted from Entertainment Weekly:
“American Idol finalist Matt Giraud might bear an uncanny resemblance to Justin Timberlake, but last night’s performance of Michael Jackson’s ”Human Nature” channeled another late-’90s pop star: Taylor Hanson. If you haven’t listened to Hanson since ”MMMBop” you might be taken aback by the comparison, but if you’ve heard the JoBros predecessors live any time in the past five years, you know it’s totally apt: the perch behind the piano, the growly edge to his soulful voice, the riffing at the end of each line, and even the phrasing. Plus, they both know how to rock a scarf.

Check out Matt’s performance below (Er, above for my readers), then YouTube any number of live Hanson clips and judge for yourself. Are you with me, PopWatchers? Or do you think Randy’s JT/Robin Thicke comparison is more accurate?”

As I make my excruciatingly slow (or blessedly, depending on how you look at it) way to work, I usually listen to Kidd Kraddick in the Morning. This morning, I tuned in just in time to hear him leaving a voice message on…

Taylor Hanson’s phone.

That’s right, my husband from another life. My husband that I share with that other woman and his 3 or 4 ridiculously adorable children.

Anyway, Kidd said this thing about asking him how his Tinted Windows project is going. “What? Tinted Windows? What is this?” I asked.

“Taylor Hanson is best known as a member of Hanson, the multi-million-selling trio of brothers from Tulsa who have been recording and touring since 1992. James Iha was one of the original members of the Smashing Pumpkins, and has also been a member of A Perfect Circle and a solo artist. Adam Schlesinger is in the bands Fountains Of Wayne and Ivy. Bun E. Carlos is the drummer of the legendary Cheap Trick, with whom he has played since the group’s inception in 1974.” (Tinted Windows)

What? What? What? What? Wha? Whaugha? Whuaha? W..

And that is why I’m going to die (and probably go to Heaven, if figuratively-dying Heaven involves a ridiculously amazing band). (That, and once again, Taylor will be at SXSW and I will not.)

Addendum:
